May 2, 2018 -
The Norwich Women's Club hosted their Annual Spring Gala on March 24th co-sponsored by Ledyard National Bank. The gala honored the Norwich Citizen of the year, Bill Hammond. Also recognized were stewards of Norwich, Linda Gray, Barney Hoisington and the late Arthur Owens for their many achievements.
As the recipient of the night's top honor, Mr. Hammond received a $500 check from Ledyard National Bank which he in turn donated to the Children's literary Foundation (CLiF) based in Waterbury, Vermont. Founded in 1998, CLiF has provided free and inspiring literacy programs and new books to low-income, at-risk, and rural children up to the age of 12 in almost 85% of the communities in New Hampshire and Vermont.
Norwich Women's Club Membership Development and Programs Co-Chair, Arline Rotman remarked, "Ledyard's participation and commitment to our cause has helped ensure the continuing success of this annual event." The Norwich Women's Club Spring Gala, held in Norwich's Tracey Hall, was attended by over 240 guests and raised more than $37,000 which will be distributed for community grants.
