Ledyard National Bank Donates to Vital Communities Affordable Workforce Housing Initiative
Jul 20, 2018 -
Ledyard National Bank donated $2,500 this week to help fund new workforce housing efforts at the regional nonprofit organization, Vital Communities. With support from Workforce Housing Coordinator Mike Kiess, Vital Communities will organize community conversations around housing, assist Upper Valley communities in development or strengthening workforce housing efforts, and work with partners to promote workforce housing.
Vital Communities convenes a group of influential regional business leaders who understand deeply the economic impacts of inadequate workforce housing. When residents live and work in the same community, there are lasting positive impacts. People have more time to be involved in civic life, support local businesses, and invest themselves in the long-term health of the community. They save money and reduce environmental impacts from commuting. Local employers benefit, too, when their employees have stable housing they can afford.
"We're so pleased to have the generous support of Ledyard National Bank to help make our new housing initiative a success," said Rob Schultz, Development Director and Housing Advisory Committee member at Vital Communities. "With funding from Ledyard, the New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority, and other area businesses and donors, we're poised to make a positive impact on workforce housing in the Upper Valley."
