Ledyard Bank President and CEO Josephine Moran has been awarded Vermont Bankers Association’s Woman of the Year in recognition of her deep commitment to the cause of lifting-up, mentoring, and supporting fellow women in the workplace. Moran’s efforts have extended throughout her career and provided inspiration and guidance to countless co-workers.
In receiving the award this month, Moran was described as a visionary leader who, with generosity and authenticity, she shares her wisdom, lived experiences, and thoughtful insights, standing beside women as they navigate their professional journeys. Her commitment to collaboration shines through in everything she does. Josephine cultivates a vibrant, supportive community where women learn from one another, celebrate each other’s achievements, and step forward with confidence. This spirit is fully embodied in her leadership of Ledyard’s Women with Purpose initiative, a program she helped shape to empower women small business owners with the tools, resources, and community they need to thrive.

She consistently demonstrates integrity, innovation, and a deep commitment to the individuals, families, and local economies Ledyard Bank serves. Josephine leads with both heart and strategy, balancing sound financial stewardship with a clear belief that banks play a vital role in strengthening communities. Her leadership has fostered a culture of purpose within Ledyard Bank, where community impact is not an add-on, but a core value embedded into daily operations and long-term strategy.”
Moran serves on the Board of Governors at her alma mater, the University of New Haven. She is proud to be the founder and chair of the University’s Women’s Leadership Council, which focuses on providing mentorship, networking and growth opportunities for the university’s female students.
Moran also serves on the Board of Directors of the Boston Federal Reserve, where she contributes her expertise as a member of the Audit Committee. Her local leadership includes active roles on the New Hampshire Bankers Association’s Board of Directors, Legislative Committee, and Community Bankers Association.
In addition, Moran serves on the Board of the New Hampshire’s BIA and chairs the Granite State United Way Board of Directors. Nationally, Josephine represents New Hampshire on the American Bankers Association’s Government Relations Committee and serves on the leadership team of the ABA Women’s CEO Peer Leadership Group.
