Community Organizations

Our mission is to provide community support that reaches a wide spectrum of people and contributes to the quality of life in the communities we serve. Ledyard National Bank contributes to a broad range of organizations, activities, and events that enhance the unique aspects of living in the Dartmouth/Lake Sunapee and Concord regions. Profiled below are several of these organizations and their mission statements:

Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital provides patient-focused health care services that are responsive to community needs, promote wellness, and continually improve the quality of health care services in the community.

American Cancer Society/Relay for Life is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy, and service.

American Heart Association is the nation’s oldest and largest voluntary organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke. Founded by six cardiologists in 1924, our organization now includes more than 22.5 million volunteers and supporters. They fund innovative research, fight for stronger public health policies, and provide critical tools and information to save and improve lives.

Ausbon Sargent Land Preservation Trust preserves the rural landscape of the Mt. Kearsarge/Lake Sunapee region since 1987.

AVA Gallery is dedicated to promoting the visual arts through exhibitions and educational programs that nurture, support and challenge New England artists, and to provide art classes for children, teens and adults of all levels and abilities.

CHaD provides the highest quality health care and comfort the ill, prevents illness and injury among the well, and advances pediatric health care through education, research, the improvement of clinical care, and the provision of advocacy in the interest of children and their families.

Child and Family Services is dedicated to advancing the well-being of children by providing an array of social services to strengthen family life and by promoting community commitment to the needs of children.

Cover Home Repair is building community and fostering hope through cooperation and fellowship among all home repair and reuse participants.

Dartmouth Athletics is committed to providing an extraordinary variety of athletic opportunities that meet the talents, interests and needs of a broad range of individuals.The purpose of all Athletic Department activities is to foster and compliment the overall academic and intellectual growth of Dartmouth College students and provide experiences that will enable them to interact in a special way with other students, test their own personal limits, and gain from the demands and realities of athletic competition and the success and adversity that go with it.

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center is forging solutions for many of the nation's most critical healthcare issues: developing better ways to care for an aging population; improving lives for those with chronic illnesses; reshaping a healthcare system fraught with increasing cost and decreasing access; creating new, smart models of care that put decisions back in the hands of physicians and patients; and translating research results more quickly for the benefit of patients.

David's House provides a home-away-from-home and support for families with children receiving treatment through Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

Friends of Norris Cotton Cancer Center is dedicated to supporting the services provided by Norris Cotton Cancer Center, a world-renowned cancer treatment and research facility affiliated with Dartmouth Medical School and the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Volunteers raise money, produce events, conduct community education programs and support patient services in an effort to find a cure for cancer.

Good Beginnings of the Upper Valley works to ensure that every baby in our local community enjoys a "good beginning."  They provide volunteers that visit families with new babies free of charge and lend a helping hand with whatever the family may need.

Go Red For Women encourages awareness of the issue of women and heart disease, and also action to save more lives. The movement harnesses the energy, passion and power women have to band together and collectively wipe out heart disease. It challenges them to know their risk for heart disease and take action to reduce their personal risk. It also gives them the tools they need to lead a heart healthy life.

Grafton County Senior Citizens Council works throughout the region to make sure that older members of the community receive services that help them remain independent in their own homes for as long as possible.

Granite United Way is committed to investing in the areas of the community with the most critical needs - education, income and health. By focusing on these investment initiatives, they are helping people in a new way; they are breaking negative cycles and tackling the root causes of problems to create lasting change.

Hanover Rotary Charities is a part of Rotary International, a worldwide association of clubs, whose mission is to provide service to others, to promote high ethical standards, and to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace though its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders. More than 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 32,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries. The members of Hanover Rotary are proud to support local charities, college scholarships, and international projects.

Hopkins Center ignites and sustains a passion for the arts within the Dartmouth community and provides a core educational environment for the study, creation and presentation of the arts.

Howe Library brings together people, resources and information to engage our minds and to strengthen connections to our community and the world.

Lake Sunapee Region VNA & Hospice provides comprehensive, high quality health care services, within its financial resources, to support the dignity and independence of individuals and families in community settings. Commitment to innovation and collaboration with health care providers and community members promotes a supportive work that enhances this mission of excellence.

Montshire Museum of Science creates, awakens, fosters, and nurtures an interest in and curiosity about the physical and natural world by providing programs, experiences, and exhibits emphasizing real objects and phenomena.

More Than Wheels is an award-winning nonprofit organization that helps people get the best deal on reliable and fuel-efficient cars. Since its establishment in 2001, More Than Wheels has helped over 1,400 New England residents get the best deal on a new or nearly new car by negotiating with dealers to secure the lowest price and providing the lowest interest rate available. They provide personal financial education by giving people the tools and knowledge they need to improve and maintain their financial stability—now and into the future. 

New Hampshire Center for Public Policy Studies is an independent, nonpartisan organization that pursues data-based research on public policy matters, develops options, informs policy makers and advises them about choices for action. The Center's mission is to raise new ideas and improve policy debates through quality information and analysis on issues shaping New Hampshire's future.

New London Barn Playhouse was founded in 1933, and is a prominent summer-stock theater that provides nightly entertainment throughout the summer months. The playhouse produces dramas and musicals as well as special productions for children. It is New Hampshire's longest operating summer theater.

New London Historical Society is a non-profit volunteer organization, founded in 1954 and committed to preserving and presenting the history of the New London, New Hampshire area.

New London Hospital is dedicated to providing quality primary care and specialized clinical services in a caring environment.

New London Outing Club strives to enhance the community, strengthen families, and promote individual growth through recreational activities.

Norwich Historical Society preserves and interprets the history of the Town of Norwich, the Lewis House and the collections therein while fostering a great sense of appreciation and respect for the towns shared heritage.

Norwich Women's Club provides educational, civic and cultural projects and grants.

Opera North engages artists, audiences, and the community in the experience of grand opera in an intimate setting.

Osher at Dartmouth is a volunteer organization that provides lifelong educational programs for residents in the greater Upper Valley.

SCORE fosters vibrant small business communities through mentoring and education.

Second Growth reduces substance abuse and violence for adolescents.  They work in the schools and the community to provide training, individual counseling, group support, and prevention education for young people.  They strive to build the strength and resiliency skills of youth in order to improve their outcomes and help them safely navigate adolescence.

Spark! provides quality social and educational programs that inspire and empower adults with special needs to become more independent and meet their full potential.

The Fells welcomes people of all ages, making each visit an enriching experience with opportunities to explore and learn from the natural lakeside setting, renowned gardens, and the historic achievements of statesman John Hay.

The Good Neighbor Health Clinic and Red Logan Dental Clinic offers free primary medical and dental care to the people of the Upper Connecticut River Valley who are in need and lack the resources to obtain adequate care.

The Upper Valley Haven serves people struggling with poverty by providing shelter and education to homeless families, as well as food and support to anyone in need.

Twin Pines Housing Trust increases and maintains perpetually affordable housing in the Upper Valley.

Upper Valley Hostel provides home-like overnight accommodations for adults receiving out-patient treatment at our area medical centers. They also serve family members of hospitalized patients.

Upper Valley Housing Coalition promotes balanced communities that provide an adequate supply of housing for the region's workforce.

Upper Valley Humane Society works to create a humane community by inspiring compassion for all living creatures and strengthening the bond between animals and humans.

VINS protects our natural heritage through education and research designed to engage individuals and communities in the active care of their environment.

Vital Communities brings citizens, organizations, and municipalities together to address issues where an independent voice and regional approach are essential.

Willing Hands distributes free, wholesome food to our neighbors in need.  They pick up donated food, primarily fruits and vegetables that might otherwise go to waste and deliver it to local human service organizations for distribution to those in need.  They also collaborate with these organizations to provide nutritional education.

WISE empowers victims of domestic and sexual violence to become safe and self-reliant through crisis intervention and support services. WISE advances social justice through community education, training and public policy.

Women's Fund of NH is a leader in bringing about social change that strengthens New Hampshire's communities by enabling all women and girls to reach their full potential.
